Meet Jesse Jackson Jr.

Retired U.S. Rep. Bobby Rush is leading an effort along with public officials and community leaders to draft Jesse Jackson Jr. into returning to Congress to represent the people in Illinois' 2nd Congressional district. Over his 17 years, former U.S. Rep. Jackson proved to be one of the most effective members of Congress. He never missed a vote and consistently delivered for the District. Jesse would fight against the recently passed Big Budget Bill intended to cut Medicaid, Medicare, and SNAP benefits. The passage of this devastating bill eliminates healthcare and food access for working and middle-class families.

Jesse Jackson Jr. knows inflation and the high cost of living are pricing the American dream out of reach for too many people across Illinois' 2nd Congressional District. Disparities in jobs and wages are being felt as are gaps in access to food, healthcare and public safety.

Jesse Jackson Jr. believes we must come together to defend the freedoms that Dr. King, his father, and many others of past generations risked their lives for. They fought for our right to vote. They fought for our right to earn a living wage. They fought for our access to the benefits of a free society.

Jesse Jackson Jr. represented the people of Illinois' 2nd Congressional District for 17 years and was known as one of the most effective members of Congress. He delivered nearly a billion in grants and appropriations to the District and he led the effort to establish a third full-service airport in the Southland.

Jesse Jackson Jr. would lead the fight against the Big Budget Bill and other plans to cut benefits and work to restore civility, compassion and equity to government. Medicaid cuts from the Big Budget Bill could force local hospitals that rely on Medicaid to close in rural, urban, and suburban areas.

The 2nd Congressional District is geographically and demographically diverse. Jesse Jackson Jr. would be committed to fighting for all residents from the South Side of Chicago and small towns like Tilton to rural and unincorporated areas. He would work hard every day to lead the fight for those who have been marginalized and forgotten.

Join the effort to send Jesse Jackson Jr. back to Congress.
